ian Wrote:As I said my comments were general and not directed at this conversion in particular. Sharan rear discs should do the job. Although with the weight of the engine in the rear of the T3 the brake bias to the rear is more than it would be on a front engined vehicle of similar weight.

Makes sense Ian

Ive used a 255mm solid disk at the back , it brakes nice but handbrake is no-good....

Re: 16" upgrade
I'm just sorting out some bigger front (vented) disc for my 16". basically following the way yurik on the yahoo 16" forum did it. Would you like pictures posted up of what im doing? It'll be a slow process, over the next month or so..
Here's the first step, girling 60 caliper machined to mount to a syncro upright (machined one top, syncro one bottom

The whole lot have now been sent off to be zinc coated. Let me know if anyone is interested, and i'll post more as i go along
cheers, Lloyd

Zinc'd calipers!...

They look a million times better than they did, but not perfect due to how rusty they were. Gone a bit porous apparently. Think im going to leave them as is though, rather than painting them. As all i have read, say's they perform better without paint.
Next is pads, discs and mounting hardware. Would still like to find some new brackets that join and hold the flexi pipe to the caliper (or at least good second hand ones)
Will fit the new pistons and seals by the weekend

Also need to think about fitting wheel spacers, maybe 10mm or so. The merc CLK alloys i have will fit fine with this caliper, but the 16" steels foul from what ive been told. And I'd like to run two sets of tyres, on and off road.

Re: 16" upgrade
Thanks, no I didn't plate them myself. Original plan was to get them blasted then enamel paint them myself. But then found this local place that would blast and plate them for £40. That worked out cheaper than the DIY paint option.

They'll look a lot better behind the Alloys, will look more like real brakes rather than toy ones
