Re: 16" upgrade
A little sneaky mock up of the big front brakes.........
![]() ![]() The hole for the securing screw that hold the disc in place is in a different position, so i will most likely take both sets of discs to the machine shop and get a new hole drilled. It looks like the caliper needs to be spaced off by about 1.5-2mm, so ill get the machine shop to knock some up at the same time |

Re: 16" upgrade
That securing screw is not a necessity.....
When you tighten the wheel it automatically tightens the disk. The spacer shouldn't be much more than about one or two washers You have the Bus, use it, enjoy nature! |

axeman Wrote:hello every one this is my first post on this form, here are some pictures of the rear disk conversion that i and ian (clever engineer) worked on (i got the parts from the scrap yard and he made them fit). this set up has been on my van for a 8 or 9 months now and has proven itself too me, if only for the hand break alone, 3 clicks on the hand break and the rear wheels are locked, the hand break was always a pain in the ass as i felt that it was never up too the job and i was regualy removing the old drums to clean out muddy silt etc not to menshion adjusting it regularly to try and maintain performance of the rear set up. they are now self adjusting and maintenance free. Are you done with this system? You are going to have unbolt and move the calipers to bleed the system because that bleeding point is very low.... You fitted them upside-down You have the Bus, use it, enjoy nature! |

Re: 16" upgrade
View through the alloy
![]() Only slight casualty was one brake pipe that joins the flexy to body, twisted slighty.. Such a short bit, that i might as well replace it ![]() As you may have noticed the only thing not yet done is the flexi to caliper connection. The bracket off the old caliper does not lend itself to this at all. After mucking around with the existing flexi and trying it on full lock both ways, my options are... 1, get new flexi made up, maybe 15mm longer. One end to be male instead of female and screw straight into caliper. 2, get a male\male adapter screw one end into the flexi, then screw it into the caliper Both are i think acceptible, will just have to look whats available |
