5-cyl specs and differances
- I would like to know how to tell the difference if the engine is in the bus or standing on a stock yard floor (not being able to see the designation on the tag, the body emblem or via gearbox or tyre combination. Thus when you look at a 2.2 (Audi 100), or a 2.3 or 2.5 or the 2.6 engine, how will you be able to spot which it is?

- What is the differences in engine parts and sizes or diameter's re.
* pistons and rings
* crank
* bearings
* valves
* top
* block

- Power output.

Thanks

Re: 5-cyl specs and differances
There were/are many variations of the 5 cylinder engine.
The sizes are: 1.9 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.5 And 2.6
The. 1.9 , 2.1, 2.2 , 2.5 and some 2.3's used the early injection or a few used carb. The 2.5 in Europe used elec injection.
So these you can tell by the injector ports in head or with the carb moddles they have a water port on the head that would
Go to the inlet manifold for heating.
On the blocks of the very early ones there was no block breather.
1.9 ,2.1,2.2 blocks don't have oil squirters under the pistons and have a shorter stroke. The others have the squirters.
There are a few small casting differences in blocks and heads but to difficult to explain.

The 2.6 has a stroke of 95.5 and bore of 82.5
Cubic capacity of 2553
Compression ratio of 10,0 to 1
Hope this helps you a bit.
Russel
