Shocks
I note that if one attempts to search a particular topic - like suspension - and you wish to search posts for the last 100 days or "from the beginning" you get a forbidden notice, so I don't know if shocks have been discussed previously.
I am busy with a suspension rebuild and it's taking quite a long time to get everything together. If money was no object and there was R20,000 going to waste, I guess one could just import what you need and be done with it, but that's not the case. So one of the things that I am keen on doing is fitting new shocks all round. The question is does one just go the Gabriel route (readily available and not too expensive) or do you bite the bullet and fit Bilsteins? I enquired about Monroe, but despite having the part numbers, it seemed like they don't supply them locally. Bilsteins would cost over three times the price of Gabriels and then some. Is it worth it? What is everyone using? I have a 2WD Doka, not a Syncro, but I'm sure the criteria remain pretty much the same. |

Wish the oke from Koni will let me know if they have something for the T25 Syncro, but will probly get the shocks that Stu has built by somebody up country. Need to get my Syncro lifted a bit, the 215/80R15 actually catch on full term to the left(huh)! BENNIE BEZUIDENHOUT "Be slow in choosing a friend, even slower when changing" Benjamin Franklin |

RE: Shocks
I use OldManEmu shocks on my syncro since last April.
Took them from a friend who changed them for TrailMaster, the OME being too hard for his panel van syncro, but for my heavy camper syncro are just perfect ![]() |

RE: Shocks
Thanks Stuart, there is no immediate rush, I still need to get everything apart, cleaned up and painted. I cannot seem to source radius rod bushes, anti-roll bar bushes and anti-roll bar to end link upper and lower bushes locally, so will no doubt have to import these next month. The front suspension is squeaking and driving me nuts.

RE: Shocks
Hi Nico.
Monroe definitely have stock. Midas are usually the best and cheapest outlet . I've just fitted a full set. Contact Monroe via e mail and you'll get a prompt reply giving you the nearest outlet! Rob. |

RE: Shocks
I went to Midas and asked them and all I got was a blank stare. Perhaps the part numbers differ to what I gave them? Would need to check again, but GoWesty.com claim there is no better shock for a T3 than Bilsteins.
