My new syncro Doka and then...........
Hi All

last month i bought a syncro doka from namibia, 2.0 golf motor LR tanks, fair amount of rust, 6.17 diff ratio, 15" wheels etc,

needed some TLC but hell i wanted a Doka for a long time.
a friend offered to drive it back to gauteng for me........

part 2 coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yesterday after leaving walvis bay, his wife rolled the doka,

luckily she is okay other than cuts and Bruises,

but my doka is toast

Sorry to hear this. She looked so good.

How would registration work? Cars are much cheaper in Bots and Namibia

long process, to register, easier cos it was a SA built doka with a syncro conversion, jap imports cannot be done here easily.

Driving on gravel-roads, in the dust, and specific between roads-works, on a high-speed its crazy, trying to do a little-rallye-trip(on that place with a speed about 30km/h nothing happened). A really great pitty, unbelievable, irresponsible.

I think it was on the C28, passing Namib Naukluft over the Bosua Pass, up to Windhoek??? In my days over-there it was a larg gravel road, inviting you for high-speed.Angry

RE: My new syncro Doka and then...........
Hi Albert

i think you are correct, i haven not personally driven that road but looking at the damaged, it was a high speed accident imho.

we have driven other roads in namibia, like the one from henties to the etosha area, great roads and 80 to 100km/h done easily in a syncro.

i think this as driver error, they were told by the previous owner to take the Tar road via okahanja to Windhoek, so a bad decision made there.

stuart,
PS how is your green 16" Doing?

Hello Stuart,
As the previous owner has told....allover the tarred road(Usakos/Karibib/Okahandja...) its clear.....Exclamation
Its really regrettable. It seems that Syncro was in good condition.
About Rallye DrivingHuh look at:
You Tube VW T3 Syncro Bernd Jager & Mark Luijkx Havelte 500 (HD)
.............. Baja 300-2012: T3 Rallye Bus
.............. VW T3 Syncro Bernd Jager (HD)
-----------------------------
My Green Syncro, is again in good condition...You now, there is allways to fixe something.....My latest trip was in Southern America(2009-2011) with Storage-Place,
from Buenos-Aires to Ushuaia/Chili/Peru/Bolivia/Paraguay/Part of Brazil). The Andes-Landscape is really fantastic(specialy Northern Chili). Latest work on the Syncro: New water-tubes(rear to front) and some gummi-tubes. After my Syncro was stolen(remember)...I have mounting a new front-diff with visco(094 409 021 J) made in Austria!, and a new Gearbox(6PA 094 300 044 M) made in South Africa! Last year from Jager a new Gearbox(using as Spare-Part on the road). My second-hand spare-part Gearbox, selling on that Storage Place in B/A..He has also a Syncro(but nothing about Syncro-Parts over there!) So, wish You all the bestExclamation
