Gear Box Lubricant
I know this has been spoken about before.
My gear box is out for the 4th time and I'm about to refill the oil.
I have been told GL 4 75W - 90 by some people and others GL 4 80W - 90 and others GL 4 85W - 90

I am interested in other peoples experience with different viscosities.
I now have all new Syncro Rings that apparently will work.
I am looking for smooth gear changes.

On a separate note I found the following link for certain brand new Syncro gear box parts.
https://weddleindustries.com/products/ne...agon-parts

Caravelle Syncro 2.3 Andreno 1990
Caravelle Syncro 2.1 Stock Standard
Volksiebus 1.8 1994
Microbus 2.3i 2002

RE: Gear Box Lubricant
all work fine, in our experience, as long as it is GL4, GL 5 does not work

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid
Bad planning on your part does not make your issue an crisis to me
Bad workmanship by other garages does not entiltle you to better rates at me
Syncro, syncro , syncro and more syncro, this is the syncro way of life

RE: Gear Box Lubricant
I was advised a some stage to use Castrol BOT ????? some or other thing (now forgot exactly what it was). I just had some work done on my gearbox and need to fill with new oil. Can anyone help with the exact name of this oil and where to source it??

RE: Gear Box Lubricant
Hi,

If you want to use a good recommended full synthetic oil, I use it, Liqui Moly Hi Performance Gear Oil (GL4+) SAE 75W-90, the product code is 4433.

It's available from any Liqui Moly Agent & Goldwagen. You use the same oil in both the transmission & front diff.

RE: Gear Box Lubricant
I use Castrol GL4 in both gearbox and front diff with no issues until now (7 years, 75.000 km)
I installed the SA oil plates to my gearbox thought before 7 years.
