Hi Dean
That Syncro of Stuart is pretty potent if you look at the YouTube vids, what engine is he using?

My suggestion is to use something like that... If you still need more power, what about a Lexus V8 ;-)

Re: SSA Play Bus Project
Use a Renault 25 gearbox instead, or even better a Porsche G50 box.

Hi Nico!

Yes,but you wouldn't be able to to offroad 4X4 then Wink

You could add a UN7 Renault transmission to get 4X4,but no locker available for the rear nor granny gear.
TBS differential would compenste a little on the rear, you can fit one aftermarket from Peloquin for UN1 transmission.

Talking abouyt Lexus engine, anybody has detailed pics of converted vans with Lexus ,Toyota etc....?I've found Giloeng is selling mounting kit for Toyota's,but damn,it is hard to find nice pics about it.I'll relay information to France,I ended up getting all the pics available from the internet already, less than 10 for Toyota converted buses

Thank you

Re: SSA Play Bus Project
I know of 2 here in SA but they eat syncro gearboxes, 4 cyl 1.9 TD golf with the small turbo for playing and a mechanical pump for reliabilty, way to go.

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid
Bad planning on your part does not make your issue an crisis to me
Bad workmanship by other garages does not entiltle you to better rates at me
Syncro, syncro , syncro and more syncro, this is the syncro way of life

Re: SSA Play Bus Project
Putting a Land Rover LDA cone( from a 220 TD I believe, forgot the number stamped on the bottom) in the pump or a number 72 from an intercooled Golf 2 1.6TD will make some great improvement,or even a 72 boost pin machined to Oettinger specifications (I got the file somewhere with specs,I did it back in the days, can find it if PM :-))

I wish diesel engines were common out here

Hi Stuart

What is the estimate cost on the TDi conversion?
How does the power compare to the 2.1 & 2.5?

Re: SSA Play Bus Project
Hi
Approx R 45k installed, great off road but seriously noisy and slow, low down power is nice, come and have a test drive some time, best option for a playbus, but for a general use bus i would go either 2,6i 5 cyl or 2.0i golf motor.
