Big Window Syncro's

Re: Big window syncros
a big difference is the dash board which looks more modern and luxurious
i find the quality of the cubby as well as the fuse box cover to be a big improvement
small differences would be the vw badge on the boot and the comfort relay system that allows to close the windows when the ignition is off
the hand brake lever was changed which is also a big upgrade as it works on the big windows much better than the older syncro's

padded dash also a nice safety factor in case of serious offroading resulting in someone flying into the dash Smile

i love big window syncro's because they are South African specific and found no where else
also that only 89 were produced

i also love small window Syncro's and dont have anything against them but must say the big window syncro's are something special to me

big windows are also nice for looking at animals in the Kruger Wink

Re: Big window syncros
I think for me the one worthwhile improvement is the controls for the ventilation system. Other than that I actually prefer the old dash. It ages much better and maybe suits the character of the vehicle better. It's not a luxury vehicle. Maybe I'm just more a Land Rover Defender rather than a Range Rover kind of guy. And by the way; there is no such thing as a "small window" Syncro. It's an original size window. The way God and VW intended it to be! I'm just pulling your leg guys. Sometimes people get a bit precious about big window Syncro's.

Re: Big Window Syncro's
The list of big window syncro's is up to 28, not bad considering that only 89 were built. also know of at least 3x that were scrapped/cut up.

Re: Big Window Syncro's
Well I've scrapped one and there is another in a scrapyard in PE that used to belong to Campbell before it was stolen.

Re: Big Window Syncro's
we need to find the owners and get them on the list. Ian you scrapped on was on the list of scrapped ones. Ace also scrapped an aftermarket bigwindow syncro a few years ago, think the blue one at frans was corne's.
