WTB vented brake set upgrade for 14" Syncro
Hey Guys,

I want to upgrade my stopping power by installing the 15" vented brake set of a 2.6L on my 14" Syncro!

I'm after a set of Carriers, Calipers, Brake hoses and Retaining Springs + maybe a set of seals etc. to refurbish the calipers (if necessary). Pads and Discs are required too, however here I prefer new stuff. Pads I should be able to source locally, discs maybe from UK)

Part numbers should be:
1 x Left caliper - 996 615 123
1 x Right caliper - 996 615 124
2 x Brake carriers - 996 615 125
2 x Retaining springs - 996 615 270
2 x Brake hose - 22S 611 775 B
(2 x Caliper repair set [if necessary] - 996 698 002)

Does anyone have a full setup for sale and is willing to ship to Australia? Happy to pay upfront via PayPal.

Cheers Arne

Thanks, I'll try them too. Have you got a web address for Ace Auto?

Wouldn't you be better off just getting the complete kit from Go Westy?

Hi Nico,
I had a look actually at the Gowesty Big Brake set, but unfortunately this set does not fit with my mags. The shape of the mags just don't allow to use it.
As the GW does not accommodate Rhein wheels either, I thought the 15" Microbus Brake System is a little bit more compact and wanted to try it.

The SA calipers do not fit with the European 15" Mefro wheels either. Just to give you a reference point to work from.

Thanks for the info Russel. Thought so too it won’t fit with Mefros. However, I did try broth templates of the GW brake sets. The Rev. 1 didn’t fit at all, Rev. 2 was pretty close. As they say their brakes do not accomodate Rhein wheels and as Rev. 2 is pretty close to fit with my rims, I assume SA 15“ brakes should work. No guarantee of course, but worthwhile to try I recon.

Cheers Arne

RE: WTB vented brake set upgrade for 14" Syncro
I did this conversion on mine in 2011

I bought new front stub axles (steering knuckles), new wheel hubs, new studs, new taper roller bearings, new seals, new grease caps, new calipers, new brake pads, new rotors, new brake hoses and whatever else was needed. The calipers were new, but purchased privately, the rotors were an aftermarket brand. The price of all these parts was around R4,000 (Aus$425) at the time. I recall the calipers were a tad expensive from the agents and it was a stroke of luck that someone was selling a pair of new ones on Gumtree. I opted to have everything fitted at a friend's workshop and I paid them R2,500 (Aus$266) for the labour.
