Leaking dipstick
Yes, yes, I know it sounds dodgey. But I'm not that old and it is my actual engine dipstick that is leaking oil.

When I put in my 2.0 Golf motor, I obviously replaced the short straight dipstick sleeve with the long bent one from a 2.1. At the time I just pushed it in there. When I realised it was leaking I took a drift and tried to punch it further in. Now the dilemma is that I don't think I would be able to get it out if I tried. It is a real bitch to get to between the water pipes and engine mount.

Any suggestions? Gasket maker? Gun Gum? Pratleys putty?

Thanks,
Nick

RE: Leaking dipstick
I have used Pratleys steel on various repairs which have worked. You have to ensure that the surface is spotlessly clean and oil free.
