Attention all Members: Board Privacy

Re: Attention all Members: Board Privacy
I agree too with Stuart.
That's what we do in France, and if people don't say hello when they come in the first time,or start a thread and "demand" satisfaction,we get pissed, and we stone them if they write like text messaging also
That works

I always wondered how Google manages to get information from forum where you need to log in?
I mean do a search, you'll see stuff popping out from forum, and when you click on it to get details, you can't read it unless you log in.

Bye!

Re: Attention all Members: Board Privacy
Keep some parts closed but Let a non registered person see the titles for these sections with no access.
It is nice to brows a few parts and if it interests a person the they are more likely to register.
Cheers
Russel

I think Russel has a valid point. Hold the proverbial carrot out for the surfers. Any section that contains personal information of members must be blocked. Regarding the log in, fortunately my auto log works and like Stuart, I tend to use the same username where possible and the same password or one or two variations there off. If you get a password wrong most systems will allow you at least 3 tries before shutting you down. Maybe Dean and Superman23 can devise a system for auto retrieval or regeneration of a password should you forget yours. I see it is used quite a bit on various web sites. You need to answer some predetermined questions that was asked during the initial registration process ie. What is your dogs name / favorite food/drink etc.

Regards

Frans

@ Alika
Google and the other search engines have bots registered on our forum, so they do have access since we have allowed it
quite a few of our members have found us through google thanks to the bots

@ Bosbus
We do have a password retrieval system of sorts, never used it myself but if need be it is there
Any other problem and you can email [email protected] and we will reset your password for you

Re: Attention all Members: Board Privacy
From my own experience when visiting any sight or forum is that if I first have to register without knowing what its really about, I simply move on to the next sight. So, limited access, just enough to make them want to know more.
This is an excellent forum any way, who would not want to be part of such a clever bunch of guys.
