My 1985 camper
Hi guys I was scratching through some old pic's and found some photo's of a panel van I bought in '85 from Lindsay Saker Randburg. My sole intention was to convert it to a camper, high roof and all. The windows were not easy to fit and did all the interior myself including under floor watertank, fridge, gas stove and oven, deepfreeze. This was such a great vehicle the only thing it lacked was four wheel drive! Syncro's were only introduced to S.A a few years later much to my dissapointment. I decided to purchase a Suzuki jeep and towed this with an 'A' frame to all our destinations. This way at least we could still rough it in the bush and come back after a days game veiwing and the camper was always set up.
Sorry about quality of some of the photo's as no digital in those days!
Rob.

Re: My 1985 camper
Thanx guys,
a lot of the skills came from trial and errror, believe me I redid the interior twice as the first timber thy gave me creaked when ever you had a slight axle twister!
The sad part was that I had to sell this camper when I got retrenched, as well as the house the Jeep and my boat Sad . However we will start again now one concellation is that this time around I will start with a SYNCRO! Big Grin , I won't go the camper route though.
Rob.
