Best route from Pta to Phalaborwa
Has anyone gone this way recently? I believe there are delays due to roadworks.

Can anyone give some advice?

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid
Bad planning on your part does not make your issue an crisis to me
Bad workmanship by other garages does not entiltle you to better rates at me
Syncro, syncro , syncro and more syncro, this is the syncro way of life

Scenic drive - Pol to Tzn

From Polokwane to Tzaneen there is a load of roadworks... Not nice to drive..

I assume you drive with a Syncro.... ;-) but can be done in a 2wd with a bit of sports.

From Polokwane, drive about 20km to Turfloop, turn left to the university, drive +\- 20km until you find magoebaskloof, turn right...
This road goes into the mountain. Continue straight until it turns into gravel, this part will be nice and scenic woods etc.
If you are lucky it has rained or will probably be raining this time of the year(its raining as we "speak"), this causes some nice slippery semi off-road driving ;-)
When arriving at the T-junction, turn left to magoebaskloof, this cuts at least two stop @ "t"oadworks..

I drive this route at least once a month, very enjoyable and beautiful, especially when its wet.

The rest we normally drive highway unfortunately ;-(

Re: Best route from Pta to Phalaborwa
Thanks guys. Like I said on the other forum, I know how to get to Phalaborwa. I was just hoping for the kind of info Izan provided. Thanks for that. Unfortunately I only have 2wd with difflock at the moment, but I'm sure it will be fine. I'll see if it's raining tomorrow or not.

2wd will be fine but im sure youll be looking for a little fun ;-)
Its only one or two steepish hills where you might need to use a little more speed, if you have all terrains on it will help a little..

I drive it on business trips using a VW Caddy Maxi with rougher tires fitted "215/70R15 Goodyear All Terrains"

Re: Best route from Pta to Phalaborwa
When returning, use same route back, youll see the turnoff from Magoebaskloof is called "Houtbosdorp".

If I remember correctly youll be having steeper hills when returning ;-)

Re: Best route from Pta to Phalaborwa
Hi Izan,

I still wanted to say thanks for all the help with the route and the tyres, but on the way back I got some news about work that had me so occupied, I completely forgot.

The route is beautiful but I was expecting a bit more of a challenge for the Syncro. Big Grin The few corrugations and hills did note present much of a challenge. I'll definitely drive it again.
