Outch Sad  My sympathies Stuart, I am sure the Subi will run well. Were you not going to put the wbx6 bus up for sale at one stage?

Re: wbx6 motor popped
hi Frans,
it is/was always almost for sale, but i never really wanted to sell it. drove so nicely, was my tow truck, towed buses from all over with it, been to Upington, Nelspruit and Kang in bots in the last 3 months with it, most towing a bus both ways. it really worked hard, towed at 110 all the time. we have also used it to durb's 3 times, PE twice and nelspriut a few times to collect buses.

Re: wbx6 motor popped
Nice engines but parts are hellishly expensive.
I have only driven a 2.2 off road and it performed a lot better than i thought it would. Nice bit of torque and reved easily.
Dont like that air filter setup in the photos. Very much lets the rest of that conversion down.
If you would like to look at some subi setup have a look at Rocky Mountain Westy

Yep for a Syncro that exposed cone filter is a big no no.

Stuart
1. What is the cost of the 6cyl Subaru motor?
2. What can you expect for fuel consumption?
3. Low down torque compared to the 2.1 / 2.3 Andreno?
4. Availability of spares?

I also agree about the filter... Snorkel could be a nice mod.. Is it easy to do?

Re: wbx6 motor popped
Hi

the parts are available for the suby 3.3i, either from Subaru SA or direct import, much cheaper if you import directly. just an idea, timing belt and tensions from Suby SA approx R 7k imported kit with a water pump as well $ 279-99 plus shipping etc. water pump from Suby Sa was r 1850-00 and the imported one cost me $59 plus shipping. delivery was also quicker from the states.

1. What is the cost of the 6cyl Subaru motor? between R 10K and 15K
2. What can you expect for fuel consumption? about the same as a 2.0 golf, so probably 7-8km/l
3. Low down torque compared to the 2.1 / 2.3 Andreno? lots more
4. Availability of spares? yes as above,
5) we ran the last on on gotech pro-x
