Re: wbx6 motor popped
Really sorry to hear that Stuart, have a vested interest in 6's running well as you know! Your story scares me all over again, although you did work her hard! I think Suby right way to go. If mine ever goes thats what i'll do too. Not sure though on 4 or 6...I know you like the 6. I know my next has got to be reliable, reliable, reliable (point made? ) and that includes gearbox, so may settle for 4 cyl only. Be very interested to see what went on your motor. Please let us know when you strip it one day. Cant wait to see Suby conversion that you do....who knows it just may make me do it now anyway! Keep a log of costs will you to give me good idea of that? Cheers John

Re: wbx6 motor popped
will do, i think the 4 will be better, but the six is so nice, last one cost R 65k with our labour. but also a bit on school fees,

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid

wbx6 motor popped
Iv'e looked at a few 3.3 SVX conversions on Youtube, man..!

About 230hp is mad.. I think 170kw & 309nm.
And that motor sounds just like a Porsche!

My guess would be to budget for at least R25 000.00 - R30 000.00 and hope your gearbox last because the WBX6 only makes about 160hp?

You have the Bus, use it, enjoy nature!

Re: wbx6 motor popped
luckily my big window has the long diff ratio's , the boxes are stronger with them, it did 180km/h at 5500 rpm with the wbx6, so should be faster with the svx that can rev. motors will be here in just over 2 weeks, getting the flywheel and adaptor tomorrow. will have mounts made up when the motor is here. then to order all the new parts from the USA, timing belt, tensioners, waterpump etc. want to do all of that before we install anything.

can't wait to get it running again, i miss my tow truck.
